How I’m Feeling About the Whole Thing

Honestly, I’m happy (so happy that my adrenaline is pumping and I can’t sleep) but also a bit scared. I’m on some drugs that are not pregnancy-safe and I’m a bit concerned about going off my Effexor XR for the next 9 months.

I know I’ll get asked this so… yes, it was a planned pregnancy. Jon and I weren’t really trying or not trying — we were just open to the possibility of me becoming pregnant. I stopped taking birth control pills 9 months ago when I accidentally forgot to take them on a trip with me and found that I really preferred not having to deal with the Pill. NFP (Natural Family Planning) was what we decided to go with at that point and it actually does work if you have a regular cycle. I managed to avoid getting pregnant for 9 months which gave me time to get some health things worked out.

What I need to do this week:

-Get in to see my doctor for a pre-natal appointment and have the pregnancy confirmed.
-Switch to meds which are not going to harm the baby.
-Walk every day that I can so I keep my weight down.
-Keep being vigilant about testing my sugars so I don’t have blood sugar problems that cause harm to the baby.
